El Puente del Milenio, podría decirse, ya es mayor de edad. Abierto al público en 2000 –luego de alguna que otra vicisitud, algún que otro temblequeo excesivo incluso para un puente colgante–, encerraba, tanto en su nombre como en la fecha de su apertura, cierta vocación de promesa. Emprender la marcha hacia una nueva era, despojarse de los restos del siglo XX como quien se saca un abrigo pesado, y sonreírle a los nuevos tiempos, ésos que se anunciaban tan livianos y pujantes. Como suele ocurrir, cada tanto el pasado nos recuerda que no ha sido puro lastre, y el futuro insinúa que no hay luz que no acarree su parte de sombra. Mientras tanto, la magnífica obra que cruza el río Támesis, sigue allí, dejándose recorrer, invitando a confiar. Permitiendo que alguien capture un instante como el que muestra esta foto: bello, fugaz, solo apenas melancólico.
