Islandia, la “Tierra de hielo y fuego”, como se la conoce popularmente, es un paraíso para amantes de la aventura. De sus 102.302 kilómetros cuadrados de extensión, el 19,5% pertenece a áreas protegidas (unas 128 concretamente). También hay áreas marinas: cuenta con 752.784 kilómetros cuadrados de los que el 0,38% están protegidos.
